July 15, 2020 NOTICE: Due to the double whammy of a local surge in COVID-19 and the impact it has had on national art galleries, The Studio Door has made the difficult decision to cancel the biennial 50 To Watch for 2020.  Artists who have applied have been notified and will be showcased in a regional exhibition in September without the national publication.

After talking with the artists that applied for 50 To Watch, The Studio Door made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s program.

A key component of 50 To Watch is a traditionally printed 4-color publication, which is mailed to galleries across the US.  This is a costly part of the program that the juried artists share in.  We couldn’t in good conscious move forward while so many of our gallery counterparts across the US have closed, either temporarily or permanently.  The impact of COVID-19 has thrown our distribution list into major disarray.  We suspect that it may take months to determine what galleries are still in operation.

In place of the biennial, The Studio Door has invited all of the regional artists who have applied to be a part of a smaller exhibition to be held in September.

We hope that local art patrons will participate and support these local artists by visiting the gallery or virtually exploring the art online through our website, Art Shop and exhibition catalog.  Look for details as we approach September.
