Each evening includes a half hour instruction session and is followed by individual mentored guidance while participants work on their own projects and body of work. Paint with other artists. Share resources. Support each other’s artistic endeavors. Artist Hang out. Bring you own supplies.

A perfect class for anyone who has every been interested in block painting. First, foam sheets are drawn on with a pencil and the process of making one or two color prints is demonstrated. When participants are ready, the group will advance to carving Speedball Speedycarve rubber blocks. Participants will learn proper knife technique, tips and tricks for carving, and will have time to create their own rubber stamp.

Supplies included; additional blocks and inks may be purchase in class.

Instructor: McHank has had a 25+ year career as an illustrator for punk and indie bands, creating posters, music videos and album covers and well as illustrating books and creating his own zine, "Perpetually Twelve." He has taught drawing, watercolor, painting, block printing and zine making for the last decade; most recently at Art Stash in La Mesa.

Creativity, 2D/3D, and Commerce
July 14 – 15, 2018

Instructors will guide artists in hands-on painting and sculpting experiences, share their creative journeys, and offer a pathway to new opportunities. The Creativity, 2D/3D Art, and Commerce retreat weekend workshop is designed for professional artists and artists transitioning to becoming professional.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided both days. Saturday evening will include an outdoor wine and cheese reception with laughter, talking art and sharing stories.
