22nd Annual San Diego County Credit Union Festival of Arts in North Park: GALLERY IN THE STREET • 2018

North Park Main Street, The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks are partnering together to bring more art into the long-running festival and celebrate local artists.

Gallery in the Street exhibition produced by North Park Main Street, The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks. The gallery will be located at the corner of University Avenue and 31st Street near URBN Pizza and a block from live art on Herman Street and special art events at Art Produce.

GALLERY IN THE STREET is an exhibition of visual art running during the 22nd Annual San Diego County Credit Union Festival of Arts in North Park on May 12, 2018 produced by North Park Main Street, The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks.

This pop-up gallery, within the festival, will showcase regional visual artists.


Fine Art: Painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book, ceramics, stoneware, stain glass and sculpture.

This exhibition does not accept small jewelry, video, film, performance art, or installations requiring an external electrical source.

Artwork must be priced $500 or less.

Submissions must be the artist’s original work.

Artwork, including items sold, must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. Patrons may pick up artwork at the end of festival or as arranged with The Studio Door following the exhibition.

$15 per entry. To maximize the opportunity for San Diego artists, only one work per artist will be eligible for this exhibition.

Entries and application fee must be submitted by April 16 by midnight.

Funds will used to produce the event. Please note that funds are not considered a charitable tax deduction.

The jurors will select works that will be on display at the GALLERY IN THE STREET during the 22nd Annual San Diego County Credit Union Festival of Arts in North Park. Artists will be notified by April 19, 2018. All artists who have submitted applications will be notified by email. If you have not received notice by April 20, 2018, please check your spam folder.


Artist gives North Park Main Street, The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks permission to photograph juried artwork. North Park Main Street, The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks reserve the right to use art images for marketing and publicity without compensation.


Regional Visual Artists of Greater San Diego


2-Dimensional Work: Maximum 50” on longest side – including frame
3-Dimensional Work: Sculptural and small installation work is encouraged. Works must be easily transportable and not exceed 6’ in height.

2-D artwork must arrive wired, ’gallery ready’ and ‘ready to hang’ and be presented professionally. Preferably, framed artwork should be in black wood or natural wood frame. No color mats. Exception is made if frame or mat is essential to the work of art. No glass – plexi only.


Artwork must be hand delivered to The Studio Door. No shipping. Artwork will be accepted after entry fee has been paid during weekend gallery hours on Sunday, May 6, 2018 (Noon – 4 PM) or Tuesday, May 8 (Noon – 7 PM). Large works or small installations should be scheduled as to not interfere with other exhibitions.


Artwork may be picked up at the festival at 10 PM or Sunday, May 13, 2018 at The Studio Door between Noon – 4 PM.

Artwork not picked up may be subject to a late fee of $15 per day and/or discarded by The Studio Door.


60% of the sale will go to the artists and 40% of the sale will go to North Park Main Street,The Studio Door and Hanalei Artworks. When pricing your artwork, keep commission structure in mind and remember all work must be selling at $500 or less. Sales tax will be collected from patrons and paid by The Studio Door. Items sold must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. The Studio Door will mail a check to the artist for any sold artwork no later than a week after the close of the show.


In addition to regional and national exhibitions, The Studio Door is an arts incubator filling the needs of artists in Greater San Diego with instruction, art to market services, artist studios, Open Studios San Diego and 50 To Watch reception/national publication.

The Studio Door shall endeavor to ensure the safekeeping of all entries while on display. However, the Artist acknowledges and agrees that he or she assumes all risk of the display of his or her artwork at The Studio Door. For good and valuable consideration, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged by the Artist, the Artist hereby releases The Studio Door, and shall defend, protect, indemnify, and hold harmless The Studio Door, North Park Main Street, their respective members, employees, agents, and authorized representatives from and against any claims, demands, losses, damages, expenses, injuries, liabilities, and cause of action arising from or in connection with exhibition. The Artist expressly waives any claims or cause of action that he or she has or may have in the future against The Studio Door, North Park Main Street, and their respective successors or assigns arising from or in connection with art exhibitions. The Artist is responsible for maintaining insurance, if desired, for his or her images/artwork, and acknowledges and agrees that insurance is not required to be provided by The Studio Door or North Park Main Street.


• THE STUDIO DOOR and North Park Main Street reserve the right to refuse work that significantly differs from the image submitted by the artist or which is deemed inappropriate for display.
• THE STUDIO DOOR and North Park Main Street reserve the right to create or use digital images of all submitted artwork and to use those images for THE STUDIO DOOR exhibition publicity and for archival and historical purposes.
THE STUDIO DOOR and North Park Main Street reserve the right to opt artists in to use e-mail addresses for correspondence related to THE STUDIO DOOR activities and artist opportunities, unless informed by the artist to opt out.

By submitting to this call for submission, the Artist hereby agrees to the above waiver and release and shall comply with all terms and conditions of this Call for Entry.
