In action.

The Studio Door is committed to showcasing visual arts. Our calling is to create opportunities for San Diego’s dedicated artists as well as bring much needed attention to the region’s place in the larger arts community.

With the 2019 opening of our new storefront in Hillcrest, we have curated a selection of new programming to engage in the arts.

Uptown After Hours – This evening series gives you access to the gallery where you will experience special musical performances, hands-on art demonstrations and insightful talks by the regions emerging artists. Signature drinks and artisanal appetizers round out the exceptional night.  Musical performance highlights have already included A New High, Charlie Arbelaez, and Paul Combs.

Inside the Artist Studio Tours – Get some culture and have some fun. Starting with coffee and muffins at The Studio Door, you will set off on a one-day tour of San Diego’s art spaces, galleries and exhibitions. Every tour is a one-of-a-kind experience with artists and curators to help you explore our contemporary arts scene. Planned for the Fall of 2019.

Young Arts Patrons Ice Cream Social – The Studio Door is mentoring under 40 arts patrons and philanthropists who are interested in becoming informed donors and have a desire to forge lasting relationships with next generation artists. Young Arts Patrons collectively decide how to discover, support and collect emerging artists before they break. Spring gathering took place in April.  Planned to return in the Fall of 2019.

Creative InnerView – Art Guide San Diego, Dusty Dawn Productions and The Studio Door are launching a season of arts interviews with support from artists Holly Jane Sutor and Chris Smith.. The series launched in February showcasing San Diego creatives working in different aspects of arts and culture.  Watch the current season on Youtube now.

Hillcrest Art Stumble – Artists, organizations and businesses in Hillcrest are celebrating the arts with the premiere of this community program.  The premiere event took place on Jun 28 and will return Sept 28.
