The Studio Door is unwavering in its commitment to celebrating and elevating LGBTQ+ artists within the vibrant tapestry of San Diego's artistic community and beyond. The gallery proudly showcases the diverse and compelling works of LGBTQ+ artists, providing a platform for their voices to be heard and their stories to be shared.
Through annual exhibitions like "PROUD+," the gallery not only highlights the incredible talent within the local community but shares its walls with artists from across the country with assistance from international art leaders.
With “ART+ LGBT History Month” exhibition, this commitment goes beyond the gallery walls, as The Studio Door actively collaborates with organizations to promote inclusivity and emphasize the vital role that visual art plays in fostering understanding and unity within the broader community.
Located in the “Historic Gayborhood” of San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood, its not surprising that many of our studio artists come from the rainbow community as well.
Artist and Gallery Owner Patric Stillman extends his passion for art and advocacy to the pages of the gay press, where he skillfully crafts artist profiles and highlights for arts organizations. His commitment to featuring diverse artists and promoting arts organizations further solidifies The Studio Door's role as a hub for inclusivity, creativity, and community engagement, reaching far beyond the gallery's physical space and into the hearts of readers eager to explore and appreciate the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ art.
The Studio Door stands as a beacon of artistic expression, where the LGBTQ+ community's contributions are not only acknowledged but celebrated with pride. We believe in creating a safe and welcoming space for artists and patrons alike, exemplifying a model of art as a personal experience and an engine for positive change.
The Studio Door celebrates diversity, inclusion and equality by providing a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for all its artists. The Studio Door is gay-owned and operated.
